Rep. Whitfield Praises Teachers on National Teacher Appreciation Day

teacher apple 300FRANKFORT, Ky. (5/7/13) – U.S. Rep. Ed Whitfield, (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power, today praised America’s teachers and the role they play in educating and developing our nation’s youth. Whitfield’s gratitude comes on National Teacher Appreciation Day, which is held during National Teacher Appreciation Week.
 
“For many generations, teachers have been making a positive impact on the lives of children and young adults, and they deserve to be recognized for their work,” stated Whitfield. “Far too often, the hard work of teachers is taken for granted, so it is only appropriate that we take this day and this week to express our appreciation for all that they do.”
 
Whitfield recently co-sponsored House of Representatives Resolution 167, which recognizes the roles and contributions of America’s teachers in building and enhancing our nation’s civic, cultural and economic well-being. The resolution concludes by thanking and promoting the profession of teaching by encouraging students, parents, school administrations and public officials to participate in teacher appreciation events during “National Teacher Appreciation Week.”
 
Tuesday, May 7 is National Teacher Appreciation Day. National Teacher Appreciation Week occurs between Monday, May 6 and Friday, May 10.
