Robert O. (Pop) Ashby, 73, of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Robert O. (Pop) Ashby, 73, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at his home. He was born on March 6, 1940 in Henderson Co., to the late Henry Lee and Mary Tegethoff Ashby. Bob was retired after 33 years with the Whirlpool Corp. and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Holy Name High School in Henderson and enjoyed working in his yard. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, John, Richard, Henry, Jr., and Bernard Ashby, and a sister, Dorothy O’Daniel.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Sherry Buckman Ashby, two sons, Jim Ashby of Reynolds Station and Kevin Ashby and wife Sherry of West Louisville, two grandchildren, Christopher and Hallie Ashby of West Louisville, a sister, Martha Duncan and husband Bud of Henderson, a brother, Phillip Ashby and wife Janet of Henderson, an aunt, Anna Lou Woods of Sapulpa, OK, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12 Noon Friday, May 24, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with entombment following in Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday with prayers at 5:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to the Carmel Home Building Fund, 2501 Old Hartford Rd., Owensboro, KY 42303. Online condolences may be placed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
