OWENSBORO, Ky. - Harold H. Clawson, 80, of Owensboro, Ky. passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, at Owensboro Health. He was born on March 4, 1933 in Lyman, Nebraska and grew up on a ranch in Wyoming working as a cowboy. He was the owner, operator and driver of a long haul truck and more recently was employed for 13 years as a groundskeeper for Summit Country Club. Harold was a "father" to many and he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had a fondness for the Mormon religion. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Clawson in 2010; a grandson, Christopher Howard; his parents, Harold H. and Clara Clawson; and a brother, Richard Clawson.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Clawson; sons, Harold Clawson, Jr. of Owensboro, James Hundley of Rockwall, TX, Hershel Clawson and William Hundley both of Owensboro; daughters, Deborah Shemwell of Central City, KY, Mary Perkins of Wisconsin, Carol McGrew of Ohio County, KY and Kathy Clawson of Colorado; 34 grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Clawson of Colorado and sisters, Laura Ratliff of Lexington, Judy of Colorado, Mary of Arkansas and Glenda Howard of Whitesville, KY.
Services are private. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro, KY is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Humane Society, 3101 W. Second Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
