LaVerne Mary Sims, 95, of Stafford County, VA

OWENSBORO, Ky. - LaVerne Mary Sims, 95, of Stafford County, VA passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Greenfield Assisted Living Home.

Born December 2, 1917, in Evansville, Indiana, to Tillie and Fred Hoefling, she grew up in Southern Indiana. In 1936 she married Roscoe "Chick" Sims and they started a family in Evansville. The family moved to Owensboro, Ky. in 1965. Her husband passed away in 1977. Last year she moved to Stafford County, Virginia, to be with her son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Sims.

She is survived by her sister, Eloise Alexander of Evansville, Indiana; son, Michael (Nancy); daughter, Diane Sims of Bothel, Washington; grandson, David Sims (Joan) of West River, Maryland; granddaughter, Leslie Jawarowski (Daniel) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughter, Claudia Sims of Portland, Oregon; grandson, Owen Sims, Berkley, California; and four great grandchildren, Michael and Lauren Jawarowski and Zachary and Mason Sims; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roscoe; and son, Marc.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Owensboro, Ky. , where a Mass will be celebrated for her at noon, Saturday, June 1. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro following the Mass. Additional arrangements are being made through James H. Davis Funeral Home, Owensboro, Ky. .
