Violet Hoover Hedges 88, of Livermore, KY

6flowerOWENSBORO, Ky. - Violet Hoover Hedges 88, of Livermore, KY went to her Eternal Home on Monday, May 27, 2013 at her home in Livermore. Violet Ray Hoover was born July 18, 1924 in Ohio County, KY to the late Duard and Ida Marvin Hoover and was married to Joseph Lee Hedges, Jr. on June 13, 1942. Violet worked at General Electric in Owensboro and was a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Memorial Post # 696 of Owensboro, where she also served as the Junior Vice President for several years, she was a member of the Livermore Senior Citizens, a member of the Honorable Order of KY Colonels, a past City of Livermore Citizen of the Year, and also enjoyed oil painting, sewing, quilting, family gatherings, riding a motorcycle, fishing, and camping. In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lee Hedges who passed away June 16, 1986 and by a son, Herbie Hedges.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Joe and Peggy Hedges of Clay, Don and Janet Hedges of High Ridge, Missouri, Allen and Francis Hedges of Owensboro, and Brisco Hedges of Livermore; a daughter, Lynn Haynes of Livermore; 20 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a brother, Medley Hoover of Centertown; and two sisters, Naomi Boyken and Shirley Bell both of Livermore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Clive Bell and the Rev. Doug Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Violet's family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 11:00 A.M. until time of services Friday at Musters in Livermore.

The Violet Hoover Hedges family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Baptist Health Hospice; 418 Scott Street; Madisonville, KY 42431. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Livermore.
