She was born in Perry County, Indiana to the late Preston and Mamie (Wilson) Badger. Irene served as a “Rosie the Riveter” in Evansville during WW II. She owned and operated a beauty shop, “House of Badger’s”, for more than 30 years. Irene was a longtime member of First Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Miller in 2000; sisters, Pearl Spencer, Ida Gaither and Alma York; and brothers, Floyd and Herman Badger.
Irene is survived by a daughter, Sandy Ebelhar (Alan); a son, John Miller (Jane), both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Holly Ebelhar of Owensboro; Bradley Ebelhar (fiancé, Robin McLimore), Jason and Jeff Miller of Louisville; great grandchildren, Haley and Hannah Ebelhar of Owensboro and Inara Miller of Louisville; sisters, Ola Cassidy of Hatfield, IN and Zelda Hundley of Owensboro; a brother, L.A. Badger of Hatfield, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Rebekah Krevens will officiate.
Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the family of Mrs. Irene Miller.
