John Edward Allgood, 84, of Owensboro, KY

obit-sunrisetreeOWENSBORO, Ky. – John Edward Allgood, 84, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Wellington Parc in Owensboro.

He was born in Henderson County on September 12, 1928 to Ezra and Eva Staples Allgood. He was a Christian, having been baptized in the Eve River near Camden, TN. He was a Korean War veteran and was owner and operator of Allgood Salvage in Hollow Rock, TN and Owensboro before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Quentin Allgood and Kim Lawrence Allgood; and a daughter, Adeliah Stigall.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Rochelle Singleton of Nashville; three stepsons, Scott Smith (Kim) of Livermore, KY, Kevin Smith (Kim) of Bridgeport, TX and Mark Smith of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; a sister, Mary Jo Downs (Robert) of Owensboro; a nephew, Daniel D. Downs of Utica, KY; and a niece, Debra Downs Brown (Dennis) of Severna Park, MD.

John's body is being sent for research at the University of Louisville Health Science Center. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.

James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of local arrangements.
