OWENSBORO, Ky. - Stacy Lynn Alvey Owens, 57, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2013 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was born on May 3, 1956 in Owensboro. As a youth, she excelled in swimming, diving and instrumental music. She graduated from Owensboro High School where she was a drum major in the marching band. After her graduation from Western Ky University she spent her professional career in library services at WKU, The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Vanderbilt University. By all accounts she was "good company". Though humble, she was a spirited woman and always productive. Using her skills as a musician, artist, flower designer, seamstress, minor miracle worker and champion shopper, she brightened her corner of the world with a stream of little acts of kindness. She was seldom loquacious, but a word or phrase from her has been known to turn a life around.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Kizer Monroe.
Along with friends and colleagues, this beautiful soul is survived and greatly missed by her husband, of (almost) 33 years, CC Owens; father and stepmother, J.C. Alvey, Jr. and LaQuita Yeiser Alvey of Owensboro; sister, Candace Alvey of Bowling Green, KY; nephews, Ross Murphy of Bowling Green, KY and Josiah Murphy of Owensboro; grand-nephew, Liam Murphy; and stepbrother, Michael Yeiser of Owensboro.
Memorial services are 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville with visitation from 12:00-1:15 p.m. on Tuesday at the church.
