OWENSBORO, Ky. - Larry Alan Mongold, 62, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. He was born December 30, 1950 in Clinton County, Ohio to the late Robert and Verena Gammall Mongold. He was a retired machine operator with the Hines Group and was of the Baptist faith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, enjoyed camping, riding his Harley, NASCAR, and being with family. He was a member of Eagles Post 4168.
Aside from his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Knight, father-in-law, Lawrence Pike and brother-in-law, Larry Pike.
Surviving is his wife, Connie Pike Mongold, two sons, Chad (Jaime) Mongold of Owensboro, Jeff (Amber) Mongold of Rockport, IN, four grandchildren, Landon, Logan, Traven and Keaton Mongold, a brother, Bob (Cheryl) Mongold of New Vienna, OH, his mother-in-law, Emma Pike, sister-in-law, Sherry Pike, his faithful dog, Reba and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Dr. James Wedding officiating and burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with military honors presented by VFW Post 696.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. An Eagle Final Tribute will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Wendell Foster Center, P.O. Box 1668, Owensboro, KY 42302-1688. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
