Commissioners Review Ordinances, Make Appointments

city owensboro 300OWENSBOROo, Ky. (7/3/13) – Owensboro commissioners approved the first reading of three ordinances during their meeting on Tuesday, July 2, at Owensboro City Hall.

These included an ordinance annexing to the city of Owensboro certain property located at 99 Boothfield Rd, in the amount of .551 acres from Daviess County; an ordinance dissolving certain mayoral appointed boards, committees, and commissions that are currently inactive or no longer serve a municipal purpose; and an ordinance adopting certain text amendments of the Owensboro Municipal Code pertaining to the Owensboro Metropolitan Ordinance in the cities of Owensboro and Whitesville, and Daviess County.

The commission also considered approval of the work session from the June 11 meeting, as well as the special called commission meeting dated June 11.Additionally, considered for approval were appointments to the Senior Center Advisory Committee. Keith Free, Amanda Rogers, and Roger Stacy were the candidates whose nominations were considered.

Lynn Holland was appointed to fill the remainder of a term expiring January 8, 2016 on the City Employees’ Pension Fund.

Rick Hobgood was appointed as the mayor’s designee to a three-year term expiring July 1, 2016 on the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau Board of Directors.
