Helen Coomes Tipton, 96, of Owensboro, Ky

6sunsetOWENSBORO, Ky. - Helen Coomes Tipton, 96, of Owensboro, Ky assed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the Carmel Home. She was born October 29, 1916 in Daviess County, Ky. to the late Joseph Ernest and Mary Florence Coomes. She retired from GE after 30 years of service.

She was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and the Hillbilly Camping Club. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidering and loved to read.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wayne C. Tipton, grandchildren, Joseph Tipton, Rhonda Tipton, Larry Tipton, and Gary Tipton and daughter-in-law, Norma Tipton.

She is survived by a son, Wayne C. Tipton, Jr. of Owensboro; grandchildren Theresa (Randall) Kemplin, Kimberley (Phillip) Spencer, Paula (Greg) Sparks, Krista (William) Stites, Karla Miller, step grandchildren, Theresa (Mark) Bigler, Marie Dowell, Charles (Joni) Vella; a brother Joseph (Jean) Coomes of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews; sixteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Carmel Home with Father Tony Jones officiating and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the Carmel Home Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. Prayers: 7:30pm. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home, 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, KY 42303.
