OWENSBORO, Ky. - Pauline Riddle, 98, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Genesis Owensboro Center. Pauline was born October 29, 1914 at home in the Daviess County community of Spice Knob to Lockhart and Addie Bell Riddle. She retired from Citizen State Bank where she had the privilege to become one of the first two women bank tellers in the area. She was a longstanding member of South Hampton Baptist Church, where she served many years as treasurer. Later, she became a member of First Baptist Church Owensboro, enjoying new and old friendships in the Friendship Sunday School Class. Pauline was co-owner of Calico Corner along with her sisters and friend and devoted many years to the Elizabeth Munday Center, volunteering at The Pin Cushion. She was an award winning rose gardener. She enjoyed knitting and sharing in family time with brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Kenneth Riddle, George William "Tootsie" Riddle, Marguerite Troutman and Anna Ruth Westerfield and also nephews, Johnny Reid, David Reid and Gary Riddle.
Pauline is survived by a sister, Charlotte (John) Reid and a brother, Donald (Beverly) Riddle. She leaves nine nephews; three nieces; several great and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as her best friend, Mrs. Wyndall (Piny) Smith. The family would like to thank Genesis Owensboro Center and her caregivers for the wonderful care shown to Pauline during her last year and a half.
Services are 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Yellow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Thruston, KY. Visitation is from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.LIN
