OWENSBORO, Ky. - William Louis Hall, 92, of Owensboro, Ky passed away on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1920 in Daviess Co., KY to the late William and Roxy Hall.
He is also preceded in death by his wife; Lora Elaine Daugherty Hall; his brother, Sy Hall; and his two sisters, Hazel Baird and Anna Lou Hall.
William served in the Army during WWII where he was a Tank Commander 77th Division, 305th Infantry Special unit tank destroyer. After returning home from his service in 1946, William married Lora Elaine Daugherty in 1947. He worked as a transport driver for Chevron Oil until his retirement. Bill was a man of strong faith and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. He was an avid fan of UK Basketball and the Atlanta Braves; wherever he was or whatever he was doing he would never miss an opportunity to watch a UK Basketball game. He enjoyed his grandchildren and was a regular fixture at their sporting events and activities at school pending that a UK game wasn’t playing. He had a weekly ritual on Sundays of taking his grandchildren to Shoney’s.
Surviving is his son, William “ Sonny” Hall ( Jacqueline) of Charlotte, NC; his daughter, Bobbie Ward ( Cliff ) of Owensboro; his two grandchildren, Nicole and Jordan Ward of Owensboro; his brother-in-law, Milton Daugherty ( Peggy) of Owensboro, several nieces and nephews; and his three good friends, Joel, Jerry, and Louis.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Greg Faulls officiating the service. Burial to follow at Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00PM and after 9:00AM on Tuesday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Bellevue Missions.
