OWENSBORO, Ky. - Dale Kirk, 71, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born November 9, 1941 in Livia, Ky to the late Finis and Amy Kirk. He retired from Commonwealth Aluminum Company and retired from the U.S. Army, having served two terms in Germany and two in Vietnam. He was one of the most decorated veterans in the Commonwealth of Ky. He was a life member of AmVets Post 75, and a member of VFW Post 696 and the American Legion. He was also a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Nichole "Nikki" Sommerville of Owensboro; a granddaughter, Breeanna Sommerville of Owensboro; Nikki's mother, Charlotte Kirk; sisters, Lattie Grimsley and Glendora Underhill both of Owensboro; a brother, Billy Kirk of Long Beach, CA; several nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Services are 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial with military honors is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
