Joseph A. Hamilton, 72, of Owensboro, Ky

obit7OWENSBORO, Ky. - Joseph A. Hamilton, 72, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013, at his home. He was born January 25, 1941 in Owensboro to the late Thomas Arville and Beulah Mae (Coomes) Hamilton. He retired as a heavy equipment operator for Local 181 Operating Engineers. He was of the Catholic faith. He was an Army veteran and enjoyed Nascar racing. He was preceded in death by a son, Matt Hamilton in 2007; and by siblings, Tom Hamilton, Charles Hamilton, Mary Jo Lynch and Martha Rutt.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joey Lebold Hamilton; sons, Brent Hamilton and wife, Jennifer of Owensboro and Chris Hamilton of Lexington, KY; daughter, Courtney Murphy and husband, Greg of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Trey, Isaac, Jack, A.J., and Christian Hamilton and Nolan and Edie Murphy; and three sisters, Marie Mattingly of Owensboro, Helen Vance of Florida and Rose Hirsch of Evansville, IN.

Services are 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2013, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in St. Peter of Alcantara Church Cemetery in Stanley, KY. Visitation is from 12:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, where prayers will be said at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Ky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
