Jury Finds Muhlenberg Man Guilty of Murder

guilty2 300GREENVILLE, Ky. (9/13/13) – The 2-day murder trial of Lennie J. Dillon of Drakesboro ended in a verdict of guilty on Thursday, September 12, 2013.

The act of Dillon taking the stand, along with a forensics expert called by the defense to despite Kentucky Stage Police lab findings, did little to affect the outcome of the verdict.

The defendant had been charged with the murder of Amy L. Dennison of Beechmont in February of 2012.

Commonwealth Attorney Ralph Vick focused the prosecution's case against Dillon on the sometimes physically violent relationship between the defendant and Dennison, while the defense team made an effort to claim Dennison could turn violent at times, and that it was Dennison, not Dillon, who pulled a gun from her purse on February 29th, 2012, and was then accidentally shot as the defendant struggled to defend himself.

Dillon testified Thursday that when his previous marriage ended, he and Dennison, "started as friends, and grew closer," and then lived together for some time, with the relationship becoming "not so good closer to the end."

Prior to the verdict, Dillon testified that on the day of the shooting Dennison and he had driven to Cedar Grove Cemetery where she pulled a gun from her purse, and in a struggle she was shot accidentally.

Dennison lived in Beechmont and was the mother of five children.
