Louis Alvin Bennett 55 of Owensboro, KY

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Louis Alvin Bennett 55 of Owensboro, KY., finally surrendered to his fight with cancer.

After months of fighting, he exhausted his admirable strength and will power losing his battle on the 12th day of September, 2013. Lou Bennett reunited with his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Bennett; sister, Juanita Marie Bennett Aull, and mother Joan Audie Bennett.

Lou was very proud of his wife, daughters and grandchildren. He patiently and lovingly guided, taught and advised his family to the best of his ability. This making him an amazing husband, father and grandfather.

Lou was a hardworking man that could handle dangerous jobs with ease and confidence. He was a great friend to many people. Touching their lives and not knowing the impact he had placed on his friends just by being around. He was a humble man. Lou enjoyed going out with his friends and family to play poker and sing Karaoke. He was an outgoing night owl with a wicked sense of humor and a stern hard working man during the day. Lou served in the Army and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the AMVETS.

Lou is survived by his wife, Linda of 33 years; daughters Jennifer and Amanda; granddaughter Jadica and grandson Talab; father Louis Arnold Bennett; sisters Barbara, Martha and Paula; brothers, Haskell and Danny; nephews, Shane and Christopher; nieces, Joanie, Kristan and Brittany, as well as four great nieces and five great-nephews.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodman Valley Church Cemetery in Ohio County.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
