Joseph Eugene McKay Jr. 56 of Owensboro, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Joseph Eugene McKay Jr. 56 of Owensboro, Ky passed away September 24, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1957 in Daviess County to Joseph Eugene McKay Sr. and Nancy D. Hendricks. He was a supervisor for Aleris for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and was a dedicated family man, enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Tavareous and Kaliyah Douglas; his step-fathers, Jim Sammon and Joe Hendricks.

Aside from his parents, surviving are his wife, Faith McKay; his daughter, Leslie Douglas (Fred) of Owensboro; step-children, Eddie Goodwin (Donna) of Owensboro and Melissa Maholm (Gary) of Evansville; grandchildren, De’Asia Douglas, Krystin Goodwin, Connor Goodwin, Anne Goodwin, Jonathan Goodwin, Andrew Goodwin, Claire Goodwin, Samuel Maholm; step-grandchildren, Ahrianna, Malachi and Eli Douglas; His siblings, Stanley McKay (Beth) of Owensboro, Diane Hoptry (Brent) of Cynthiana, Ky. and Karen Wahlstrom (Paul) of Greenwood, Indiana.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m.  Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Visitation at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Thursday and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.  Friday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Eddie Goodwin will officiate.

The family requests that expression of sympathy take the form of donations to Owensboro Footprints On My Heart 106 West 20th Street Owensboro, KY. 42303 or The Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center 1020 Breckenridge Street, Owensboro, KY. 42303. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
