Jeffrey Wayne Humphrey, 47

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Jeffrey Wayne Humphrey, 47, of Owensboro, Ky deceased Thursday, September 26, 2013, at his home. He was born October 8, 1965 in Owensboro. Jeff graduated from Owensboro High School in 1984 and attended Western Ky University. He was employed by Texas Gas Corporation for 25 years and was a member of Owensboro Christian Church. Jeff was diagnosed in 2004 with brain cancer, but even with the obstacles he endured, he competed in many triathlons, a half iron man competition and marathons. Jeff was a true fighter, never giving up. He enjoyed gardening, watching the kids play sports and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying bow hunting. He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Wayne Humphrey on February 12, 2013 and mother, Judith Butler Humphrey.

He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Kristie Edwards Humphrey; children, Kasey Zogg (Michael), Parker Humphrey, Kelsey Payne, and Lukas Humphrey; his 'second mother', Phyllis Humphrey; brother, Klaytor Burden (Andrea) of Owensboro; sisters, Melanie Humphrey Andrews (Gordon) of West Palm Beach, FL, Stacy Humphrey Cava of Louisville, KY, Kandia Burden of Owensboro, Kristiin Burden of Cold Spring, KY; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins and numerous friends.

Services are 10:00 a.m. on Monday September 30, 2013, at Owensboro Christian Church. Burial is in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at Owensboro Christian Church. Pallbearers are Klaytor Burden, Bill Wight, Ricky Harper, Kurt Anderson, Bryan Smith and Jeff Belcher. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations at any Fifth Third Bank to the Kristie Humphrey Children's College Fund, to Hospice of Western Ky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or to United Way of the Ohio Valley, P.O. Box 705, Owensboro, KY 42302.
