Jean Sherman, 85

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Jean Sherman, 85, of Owensboro, Ky deceased Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Redbanks Nursing Care Facility in Henderson, KY. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and served on the altar guild for 50 years.

Jean was born in Versailles, KY and later moved to Lexington, KY. She graduated from the University of Ky in 1950 with a degree in geology. She then earned a degree in education and worked for a program teaching teen mothers. Later, she worked as a special education teacher at Daviess County High School for many years. She was a talented and generous person.

Survivors include four sons, Jay (Nanette) Beard of Henderson, John G. Beard, III of Lexington, Jeffrey (Margita) Beard of Anna Maria, FL and James (Gail) Beard of San Jose, CA; one sister, Leila Clark of Lexington; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Memorial services are from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Owensboro. Visitation is from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Anthony's Hospice, 2410 So. Green St., Henderson, KY 42420 or to Trinity Episcopal Church, 720 Ford Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42301.
