Elbert Elmo McLaughlin, 85, of Rumsey, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Elbert Elmo McLaughlin, 85, of  Rumsey, Ky passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Elmo was born September 30, 1928 in McLean County, Ky to the late William Potter & Jessie Oakley McLaughlin and was married to the former Marjorie Mae Ellis on January 25, 1958. He formerly operated the Mac`s Market and was a previous mayor of Sacramento. He attended Faith Baptist Church in Sacramento, was a loving husband, father, enjoyed spending time with all of his family. Elmo was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War where he served as a medic, and also enjoyed gardening and raising animals.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Charles, Raymond, Bobby & Jimmie; and 4 half-brothers: Estill, Lawrence, Wilford, and Raymond.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Marjorie McLaughlin; a daughter, Valerie McLaughlin-Clark and husband, Tim of Calhoun; a sister, Lula Belle Mladenka of Calhoun; and a brother, Clayburn McLaughlin of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Ken Frizzell officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with Elmo's family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 10:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Elmo McLaughlin family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Poplar Grove Cemetery Fund; or Baptist Health Hospice C/O Muster Funeral Homes; P. O. Box 160; Calhoun, KY 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
