Jimmie Marie Wofford, 85 , of Owensboro, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Jimmie Marie Wofford, 85 , of Owensboro, Ky passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013, at her residence . She was born in Memphis, TN, to the late James and Ruth Atkinson Cole. Jimmie was a preschool teacher at both St. John’s Methodist Church and Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and was the first president of the Newton Parrish Elementary School PTA. She was a member of Settle Memorial and was active in the United Methodist Women’s Organization, the Woman’s Emmaus, and a past member of the Younger Woman’s Club. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delbert R. Wofford in 2003.

Survivors include her children, Delbert Donald Wofford of Owensboro, Delace Wofford Canada (Michael) of Hawesville, and James Cole Wofford (Pamela) of Henderson; grandchildren, Shannon Wofford, Austin Wofford, Ian Canada, Andrew Canada, and Ember Kawarada (Shigeyuki); great-grandchild, Sakura Kawarada.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Settle Memorial with Rev. Darren Brandon and Rev. Michael Canada officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, TN.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Settle Memorial United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
