John Darrell Pogue, Sr., 66, of Owensboro, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - John Darrell Pogue, Sr., 66, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Sunday, November 10, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born February 27, 1947 in Owensboro to the late Ellis and Edna Pogue. He owned Standard Oil Gas Station and Pogue Bar-B-Que. He enjoyed barbecuing, U.K. basketball, Nascar racing, golf, fishing and dancing but most of all, enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman L. Pogue and W. Thurman Pogue.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jennie Howard Pogue; a son, John D. Pogue, Jr. of Owensboro; four daughters, Jennifer Gail Pentecost (Mike) of Owensboro, Patty Schrecker (Bobby) of Owensboro, Elizabeth 'Libby' Pogue of Houston, TX and Charity Lynn Pogue (Chris Shown) of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Brittany N. Pogue, Rex Pentecost, Isiah Pogue, Emily Pogue, Cody Pentecost, Austin Schrecker, Jaye Pogue and Preston Schrecker, six great grandchildren; four brothers, Cecil Pogue, Joe Pogue, Larry Pogue (Judy) and Donald Pogue (Annette) and a sister, Becky Thomas.

Visitation is from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. A celebration of his life will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, during the visitation. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association, Suite 114, 6415 Castleway W. Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46250 or to the American Kidney Fund, Suite 300, 11921 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852-9813.
