James W. Dickens 94, of Calhoun, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - James W. Dickens 94, of Calhoun, Ky passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 at his home. James Woodrow Dickens was born August 22, 1919 in Daviess County, Ky to the late John Willis and Verdie Mae Chandler Dickens and was married to the former Bessie Marie Broadley on May 11, 1940. James was a retired coal miner, a farmer, and member of Little Flock Holiness Church. He enjoyed music and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Bessie Dickens, who passed away June 13, 2009 and by a daughter, Judy Wilson, who passed away April 16, 2012.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Ronnie and Carolyn Dickens, Hugh Carroll and Sharon Dickens both of Calhoun, and Rex 'Butch' Dickens of Columbus, Ohio; four daughters and their husbands, Dianna and Ray Smith, Sandra and Richard Crabtree, Patricia and Herbert 'Pancho' Hall, and Karen and Kenny Gross all of Calhoun; a son-in-law, Harry Wilson of Calhoun; 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thomas and the Rev. Harry Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with James' family from 4:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday and from 12:00 P.M. until time of services Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.

The James W. Dickens family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Gideons International; P.O. Box 241; Livermore, Ky 42352. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
