John Towery Chandler 77, of Owensboro, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - John Towery Chandler 77, of Owensboro, Ky passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at his home in Moseleyville. John Towery Chandler was born March 1, 1936 in McLean County, Ky to the late Hazel Densmore and Pearl Elizabeth Towery Chandler and was married to the former Nannie Eloise Lane on October 23, 1955. John was the owner and operator of Chandler's Garage, worked at Harry Holder Ford in Owensboro and Green Coal Company, and was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, where he served on the Parrish Council. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, was the first chief of the Moseleyville Volunteer Fire Department, where he was still serving as a board member, and enjoyed NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Eloise Chandler; five sons and their wives, John T. and Carla Chandler, Jr. of McKinney, Texas, Jeff and Tammy Chandler, Denny and Lisa Chandler both of Troutman, North Carolina, Tommy and Beth Chandler of Mooresville, North Carolina, and David Walker Chandler of Owensboro; three daughters and their husbands, Darlene Berry of Owensboro, Caron and Charles Head of Livermore, and Angie and Bill Drury of Owensboro; twenty grandchildren, John David Berry, Casey Berry, Jackie Chandler, Jacobe Chandler, Sara Chandler, Bonnie Chandler, Robert Head, Michael Head, Anthony Head, Kristin Evans, Tyler Chandler, Teri Lynn Mattingly, B.J. Drury, Benjamin Drury, Jonathan Drury, Patrick Marcus, Isaac Chandler, Alexander Chandler, Sean Chandler, and Emily Chandler; six great grandchildren, Abigail Drury, Braxton Mattingly, Penny Chandler, Ellie Chandler, Calvin Chandler, and Kylie Sapp; a brother, David Chandler of Bowling Green; and two sisters, Maria Chandler of Louisville and Marilyn
Chandler of Panther.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Pat Bittel officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with John's family from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 8:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Prayer services for John will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Musters in Calhoun.

The John Towery Chandler family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Moseleyville Volunteer Fire Department; C/O Muster Funeral Homes; P.O. Box 160; Calhoun, Ky 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
