J.R. Wilson 92, of Calhoun, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - J.R. Wilson 92, of Calhoun, Ky passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Heartford House in Owensboro. J.R. Wilson was born August 10, 1921 in Sebree, Kentucky to the late Noah and Lillie Mae Nevitt Wilson and was married to the former Catherine Lucille Stratton on April 28, 1944. J.R. retired as a barge captain from the Crounse Corporation, was a member of the Pentecostal Faith, and a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He loved the Green River, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

In addition to his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by a son, Allen Wayne Wilson.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lucille Wilson; a son, Gary Wilson and wife, Kathy of Calhoun; two daughters, Wanda Floyd and husband, Jan and Carrie Ellis and husband, Danny both of Calhoun; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and 2 great great granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jon Emery and the Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with J.R.'s family from 11:30 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Calhoun.

The J.R. Wilson family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Calhoun Cemetery, Beautification Fund; C/O Winfred Williams; P.O. Box 201; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
