OWENSBORO, Ky. - Emma Lou (Fulcher) Fuchs of Owensboro, Ky passed away March 18, 2014, at Wellington Parc in Owensboro. She was born December 2, 1918 in Webster County, Ky . She was a Western Ky University graduate, and a teacher at Lincoln and Tamarack Elementary schools, retiring after 30 years. Emma was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She enjoyed doing handwork, and loved being in her home, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She spent her summers traveling the world. She was a member of K.E.A., N.E.A., and the Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenward Stevens Fuchs in 1974; a son, Glenward Stevens Fuchs, Jr.; and two sisters, Virginia Fulcher White and Albertine Schafer.
Survivors include her daughter, Joy Fuchs Miller and her husband, Stiles of Owensboro; daughter-in-law, Debbie Fuchs of Utica, Ky ; three grandchildren, Glen Fuchs (Lynnette) of Owensboro, Laura Porter (Eugene) of Seffner, FL and Nathan Hobbs (YingYu) of Fremont, CA; and five great grandchildren, Glenward, Emily, Bethany, Kelsie and Brinlee.
Her family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Wellington Parc for the special care they gave her for the last 6-1/2 years.
Services are 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, 1225 W. Third St., Owensboro, Ky 42301 or to the Alzheimer's Association, Suite 40l, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Louisville, Ky 40205.
