James L. Brown, 81, of Maceo, Ky

OWENSBORO, Ky. - James L. Brown, 81, of Maceo, Ky went to be with his Savior on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born April 1, 1932 in Breckenridge County, Ky, he was the son of the late Mora and Donie Pool Brown. He was a member of the Catholic faith, an avid coon hunter and pocket knife collector. In his past time he loved raising chickens.

Aside from his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Vonnie Toler; three grandchildren, Jason Livers, Jarod McCollam, and Jeremy Brown; five sisters and two brothers.

Surviving is his wife of twenty-two years, Christine M. Brown; children, Melissa Brown, Renee (Chris) Chappell, Donnie Brown, Joe Brown, Jerry Brown and Shawna Simmons of Owensboro, Reba McCollam of Texas, Dee Reed Ranson of Colorado and Kay (Jim) Lockhart of Indiana; 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Vincent Brown, Ledith Brown, Rita Herzog, Lenious Edge.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Bruce McCarty officiating and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Precious Blood Catholic Church and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Prayers said 7 p.m. Friday.

Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Brown.
