James A. ‘Phillody’ Green, 70, Owensboro, Ky.

OWENSBORO, Ky. (4/21/14) — James A. ‘Phillody’ Green, 70, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation.

He was born Jan. 1, 1944, in Daviess County to the late Argustas and Maggie Douglas Green. He retired from the City of Owensboro and was a member of Sweeney Street Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on cars, blues music and especially spending time with his family and friends.

Aside from his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah N. Green in 2009, four brothers, William Green, LeRoy Green, Edward Green and Budden Green, and one sister, Minnie Green Willingham.

Surviving are two sons, Jerome Green and Anthony Green, both of Owensboro, nine grandchildren, Ashley Clements, Courtney Duvall, Jontae Green, Jordan Carter, Alexus Seaton, Cody Layson, Devin Gamble, Mikel Duncan and Tiyana Brown, four great grandchildren, and three sisters, Nancy Fraizer of Owensboro, Mary Jo Fraizer of Louisville and Sally Sanders of Owensboro.

Services will be noon Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with the Reverend Robert Kendrick officiating.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.
