inmateescapeUPDATE: WESTERN KENTUCKY (4/28/14) — The Hopkins County Jail inmate, who escaped Friday, April 25, has turned himself into Kentucky State Police.

According to a KSP report, Ricky L. Miller contacted Post 2 wanting to turn himself in. Troopers responded to a residence on Morris Sisk Road in Madisonville, where Miller was taken into custody without incident.

Trooper Jonathan Ward charged Miller with second-degree escape. Miller is being lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.

Trooper Ward was assisted by Sgt. Nick Rice.

ORGINAL STORY:

WESTERN KENTUCKY (4/25/14) ― Authorities are searching for an escaped inmate with known contacts in the Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties area.

The 35-year-old man should be considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

According to the Madisonville Police Department, Ricky L. Miller escaped at approximately 9:50 p.m. Thursday, April 24 from the Hopkins County Detention Center. A jail deputy told police that Miller was working in the kitchen and when Miller went to take out the trash, he fled northbound to a nearby wood line.

Miller is a white male, 5' 7”, 145 pounds with blond/brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue HCDC issue scrub-type uniform.

According to MPD, Miller has contacts in the Union Temple Road area of Hopkins County and has also had an address on Everly Brothers Boulevard in Central City.

Miller had been incarcerated for charges of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, obscuring the identity of a machine, first-degree criminal mischief, receiving stolen property under $10,000 and on a warrant as a fugitive from another state.

Police urge anyone coming in contact with Miller to not approach him and to immediately call 911.
