OWENSBORO, Ky. – David Lloyd Green, 76, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, in New Albany, Ind. He was born March 25, 1938, in McCracken County to the late William Lloyd and Mary Ellen Guess Green. Mr. Green was retired from Owensboro City School Board as a Custodial Maintenance Engineer where he worked at Seven Hills School for 20 years. He also was an assistant teacher at Hager Preschool for five years. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church, a 32nd Degree Mason with Owensboro Lodge 130 and Scottish Rite of Free Masons, a Scout Master of Troop #67 and #24 for 25 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling, taking cruises and playing the lottery.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Don Green and Dwayne Green and his dog, Mindy who was a great companion.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years who was also his high school sweetheart for 58 years, Ruth Ann Hayden Green; one daughter, Cathy (David) Mattingly of Owensboro; one son, David (Dawn) Green, Jr., of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren, Davina (Chris) Henderson, Jaime (Blake) Main all of Owensboro, Brandon and Bryan Green, both of South Carolina; four great grandchildren, Aleia and Kylah Henderson, soon to arrive, Gunner Henderson, and Skyler and Sydney Main. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Owensboro Christian Church with Pastor Donnie Thomas officiating. Burial to follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
