J. C. Conklin, 89, of Owensboro, Ky.

OWENSBORO, Ky. – J. C. Conklin, 89, of Owensboro, Ky. passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Wellington Parc in Owensboro. He was born and raised in Grayson County, Ky. to the late James Thomas and Natella Conklin. J.C. was a lifelong member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and a trustee. He was ordained Elder on November 29, 1964. He was a WWII Veteran, having served in the US Coast Guard attached to a Loran Radar Unit in the South Pacific. J.C. was a charter member of the Isotopes Radio Controlled Airplane Club and a lifelong enthusiast. He was retired after 30 years as an Electrical Engineer for General Electric.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rudell Conklin, and Elizabeth C. Millner.

Survivors include his wife, the love of his life, Cynthia; three sons, Keith C. Conklin (Dot) of Owensboro, Troy Thomas Conklin (fianceé Janie Wright) of Indiana and Mark Hines Conklin (Jo Ann) of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Jed Conklin, Kit Conklin, Shannon C. Gibbs, and James Conklin; three step grandchildren, Robert, Eddie and David Allen; and a great granddaughter, Lillian Gibbs.

Services are 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Owensboro. Burial is in Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Leitchfield, Ky. Visitation is from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. on Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home.

At this time the family would like to thank the staff at Wellington Parc for their care and kindness.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 910 Booth Ave, Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
