Thomas E. Young, 73, of Calhoun, Ky.

CALHOUN, Ky. – Thomas E. Young, 73, of Calhoun, Ky., passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Thomas Ewen Young was born December 18, 1940 in Beech Grove, Ky. to the late Ralph Ewing and Claris Hopkins Young and was married to the former Kathryn Marie Brown on June 8, 1961. Tom attended Beech Grove Elementary School, was a 1958 Graduate of Calhoun High School, attended University of Kentucky, and was a 1962 Graduate of Murray State College, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a farmer, owner of BG's Food Mart in Beech Grove, and a member of Beulah General Baptist Church, where he served as the treasurer for several years. Tom enjoyed University of Kentucky Basketball, pulling both mini and antique tractors, and being at the lake on his boat.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathryn Young; a daughter, Teresa Young of Holiday, Fla.; and a son, Thomas Owen Young of Beech Grove.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Ron Hampton officiating. Burial will be in the Beulah General Baptist Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with Tom's family from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Calhoun.

The Thomas E. Young family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department; P.O. Box 65; Beech Grove, Ky. 42322. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
