George Donald Lawson, 88, of Evansville

OWENSBORO, KY - George Donald Lawson, 88, of Evansville, Indiana passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, at his home.

He was born on June 8, 1923 in West Louisville, Kentucky to the late John F. and Lavada Lawson. He was self employed and a member of Mount Zion Methodist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 61st Combat Engineers and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a lifetime member of VFW #1114.

Survivors include his bride of 65 years, Elwanda Moore Lawson; a son, Gary Donald Lawson (Dannye) of Calhoun, KY; a daughter, Becki Renner (Mark) of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren, Heather Pulling, Erik L. Renner, Stephanie Renner, Amanda Hickman, Roxanne Likens, Glenn Lawson, and Katie Key; eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Daviess County, KY with military honors. Visitation is from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
