OWENSBORO, KY - Dayton Myers, 87, of Masonville, KY passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System.
He was born on February 17, 1924 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Rev. Eldon and Elizabeth Myers. He retired from South Central Bell and was a deacon and active member of Masonville Baptist Church. He was a member and chaplain of Ensor Masonic Lodge #836, a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Daviess County Lions Club, active with Boy Scouts of America for 25 years and a volunteer at Owensboro Medical Health System and the Help Office. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Eldon Ray Myers.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jane Myers; a son, Kenneth Myers of Frankfort, KY; a daughter, Judy Myers Nantz of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Daymon Nantz and Shellie Howard and two great granddaughters, RayAnne Howard and Lily Howard.
Services are 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011, at Masonville Baptist Church, with Reverend Kimbrough Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro and from 9:00-10:30 a.m. on Monday at Masonville Baptist Church. Masonic services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
