Schultz Riggs, Jr., 95, of Owensboro, Kentucky

orangesunsetOWENSBORO, KY -  Schultz Riggs, Jr., 95, of Owensboro, Kentucky  passed away Friday, November 11, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

He was born on March 1, 1916 in Paducah, KY to the late Schultz and Mabelle Riggs. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1936. He came to Owensboro in 1937 to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, where he met his wife of 65 years, Russelle Compton Riggs, who preceded him in death in 2003. He retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 39 years and was also employed by National City Bank for 10 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his son, Schultz Riggs, III of Jackson, MS. Special mention should be given to Connie Kennedy, who cared for him the last five years of his life.

Graveside services are at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sorgho, KY, with burial to follow. There will be no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Oneida Baptist Institute, P.O. Box 67, Oneida, KY 40972.
