Rev. James Ervin Moore, 86, Beaver Dam

 

obit13BEAVER DAM, KY - The Rev. James Ervin Moore, 86, Beaver Dam, went home to be with the Lord at 12:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.

He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Simons, Ky., the son of the late Levi and Gladys Mitchell Moore. James was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran who served both his country and the Lord.

He was a pastor at Gillyville Baptist Church and was a member of Lonestar Baptist Church. He was retired from Whirlpool after 33 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Gladys Mitchell Moore; one sister, Grace Moore Ford of Beaver Dam; two brothers, William "Bill" Moore and Leonard Moore, both of Beaver Dam; and one grandson, Kevin James Coomes of Henderson.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Lucille Chancellor Moore; four daughters, Joan Maraman and her husband, James, of Henderson, Theresa Wilson and her husband, Tommy, and Sue Baize and her husband, Garnett, all of Beaver Dam, and Debbie Walters and her husband, Dutch, of Corydon; three sons, Jimmy Moore and his wife, Linda, of Newburgh, Darrell Moore and his wife, Jeannette, of Beaver Dam and Monty Moore of Hartford, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

His homegoing celebration will be at 2 p.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mayer Van Bussum will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Lonestar Cemetery near Centertown, Ky. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
