CALHOUN, KY - Tilden Humphrey, 90, of Calhoun, Kentucky passed away Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
William Tilden Humphrey was born November 11, 1921 in Central City, Kentucky to the late Ellison and Grace Whitehouse Humphrey and was married to the former Zelda Hayes on June 15, 1949. He was a graduate of Central City High and received his degree in agriculture from the University of Kentucky. Tilden was a farmer, a retired mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, and a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II and enjoyed both woodworking and deep sea fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Zelda Humphrey; a son and his wife, Roger and Kathy Humphrey of Rumsey; two daughters and their husbands, Ange and George Relyea of Evansville and Kathy and David Ellsworth of Rumsey; six grandchildren and their spouses, Andrea and Mickey Melton, Sam and Jodie Ellsworth, Clayton and Carolyn Brown, Travis and Belinda Humphrey, Laura Kathryn and Nathan Hunt, and Jonathan and Karla Humphrey; 8 great grandchildren; and his adopted daughters, Sandy Pasco, Kitty Jacobs, Carolyn Dornburg, and Pam Feagle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Calhoun Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Central City. Friends may visit with Tilden’s Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday and from 10:30 A.M. until 1:45 P.M. Tuesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.
The Tilden Humphrey Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Tilden Humphrey, University of Kentucky Agriculture Scholarship at the McLean County High School; C/O Roger Humphrey; 497 Higgs Lane; Rumsey, Kentucky 42371.
