OWENSBORO, KY - Arnold Hugh Boarman, 78, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his home.
He was born August 16, 1933, in Daviess County to the late Bernard Boarman (1951) and Katie Lee Hagan Boarman (1992). He was retired from Ken-Tron as a tool & die maker for 33 years. Mr. Boarman was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, 1st President of the Local 4959 Steelworker Union, was a Kentucky Colonel, he received the highest award in the Catholic church which was the Sophie Award. He also helped build the Strawhouse at Mount St. Joseph and the family cabin from the ground up. Mr. Boarman enjoyed woodworking, University of Kentucky Basketball and his family.
Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Callie Hundley, two brothers, James Boarman, Bob Boarman, four sisters, Bernadine Ward, Betty Logsdon, Miriam Boarman and Teresa Boarman.
Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Ethonil "Toby" Bryant Boarman; one son, Eugene (Helen) Boarman, Annapolis, MD; five daughters, Judy (Pat) Yeckering, Owensboro, KY, Jackie (Roy) Hundley, Sorgho, KY, Sandy (David) Hall, Sacremento, KY, Brenda (Jim) Carneal, Owensboro, KY, and Donna (Byron) Ashley, Owensboro, KY. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Angela Berry, Whitesville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2011, at Precious Blood Catholic Church with Father Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and Monday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Prayers will be said Sunday at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Western Kentucky or Precious Blood Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
