Joseph (Joey) Peters, 65, Curdsville, formerly of Spottsville

skyOWENSBORO, KY - Joseph (Joey) Peters, 65, Curdsville, formerly of Spottsville, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011.

He was born in Henderson County to the late James G. and Josie Marie Daniels Peters. He was a veteran of the Kentucky National Guard. He was a member of Advance Baptist Church in Baskett, the Loyal Order of Moose Club and the Eagles. He was also a member of Local 181 Operating Engineers out of Henderson for 38 years. He enjoyed making toys for children, spending time with grandchildren and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Josie Marie Daniels Peters; two sisters, Doris Williams and Shirley Peters; and one brother, Kenneth Peters.

Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Judy; one son, Mike Peters and his wife, Chrisana, both of Henderson; three stepchildren, Jackie McCarthy and her husband, Mike, Tom McPherson and Jessica Green and her husband, Jeremy, all of Owensboro; five siblings, Ronald Peters and his wife, Sandy, Donald Peters and his wife, Sandy, and Judy Newman, all of Henderson, and Eddie Peters and Larry Peters and his wife, Barbara, all of West Louisville; four grandchildren, Jesse, Hallie and Preston McCarthy and Mason Green; several nieces and nephews; and special neighborhood kids who visited.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home in Owensboro. Father Bruce McCarty will officiate. Private burial will be in St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery in Sorgho.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Expression of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Epileptic Foundation or St. Jude's Children Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
