James (Pete) Oliver, 72, of Owensboro

 

5sunsetOWENSBORO, KY - James "Pete" Oliver, 72, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System.

He was born on July 26, 1939 in Owensboro, Ky. He retired after 35 years of employment in the Automotive Department with Sears Roebuck & Company and was a member of the Deliverance Christian Center. He enjoyed car racing and working with cars and was a member of the Scott Oliver Racing Team. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and truly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Faye Oliver, his parents, Franklin and Alma Oliver and a great grandson, Camden Jones.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Diane Brown Oliver; his children, Scott (Pam) Oliver, Lynne (Steve) Edge and Roxana (Rick) Webb; grandchildren, Scotty Oliver, Tamara Lynne Hughes, Austin Edge, Kayli Webb and Dylan Webb; four brothers, Gus Oliver, Frank Oliver, Donnie Oliver and Tony Oliver all of Owensboro and two sisters, Betty Reynolds of Owensboro, and Nancy Whitmer of Bremen, KY.

Services are at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 1100 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Deliverance Christian Center, 701 Sharp Road, Utica, KY 42376.
