John Robert Douglas, Sr., 56, of Owensboro, KY

 

obit10OWENSBORO, KY - John Robert Douglas, Sr., 56, of Owensboro, KY passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born on March 12, 1955 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a car salesman and attended River City Church. He enjoyed taking photographs, making videos and shopping. Most of all, he loved family gatherings, especially at Christmas, his favorite time of the year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite and John T. Douglas.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Douglas; his father, Yatmon Cole; a daughter, Amber D. Taylor (Travis); a son, John R. Douglas, Jr.; grandchildren, Arianna and Jalen Taylor and Lauren Douglas; stepsons, Carlos Melendez and J.R. Williamson; stepdaughters, Michelle Johnson (Arian) and Monica Hills; step-grandchildren, Darian Johnson and Jalen Johnson; sisters, Sarah Douglas, Deborah Hearvey (E.J.), Linda Lawrence, Delois Walker (Arthur), Vickie Cobbins, Dorothy Mudd (Raymond) , Mychelle Adair, Sheila Goodner (Ridley); brothers, Bruce Walker, and Yatmon Cole, Jr. and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Services are at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011, at the Chapel of Peace in Rosehill Cemetery with burial to follow in Rosehill Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Chapel of Peace. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro is in charge arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the John R. Douglas, Sr. Memorial Fund, 3009 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.
