Michael Keith Wolford, 50, of Owensboro

 

crossflowersOWENSBORO, KY - Michael Keith Wolford, 50, of Owensboro passed away December 11, 2011.

He was born February 8, 1961 in Casey County, Kentucky to the late Dale Keith Wolford and Sarah Ann Atherton Wolford. Mike graduated from Brescia College in 1982 where he met his future wife Ellen. He started with Glenmore Distillery and worked as the Bottling Maintenance Supervisor for 29 years. He was active in Youth Sports, coaching in soccer, baseball and basketball. He was an avid NASCAR fan. A member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, Mike was involved in various parish activities including the burgoo cooking team.

Aside from his father, Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Coy and Hilda Wolford and Hugh Paxton and Mary Agnes Atherton.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years Ellen Kortz Wolford, 3 sons, Zachary Wolford, Nathan Wolford and Jarrod Wolford all of Owensboro, his mother, Sarah Ann Atherton Wolford, of Clementsville, KY a sister, Debra (Tom) Head of Goodlettsville, TN, a brother, Joe (Liz) Wolford of Versailles, KY, a sister, Packie (Mark) Bogard of Churchill, TN a brother, Greg (Lisa) Wolford, Lancaster, KY, his mother-in-law, Patricia Kortz, of Paducah, KY, several aunts and uncles and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers.

Services will be 12:00pm Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father John Meredith and Father Freddie Byrd officiating and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and 9:00 to 11:30am Thursday at the funeral home. Prayers 6:00pm Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Owensboro Catholic High Schools Sports Programs, 1524 West Parrish Avenue, Owensboro, KY 42301, Blessed Mother Parish, Hospice of Western Kentucky or Kosairs Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
