Doris C. Thompson, 96, of Owensboro

 

3flowerOWENSBORO, KY - Doris C. Thompson, 96, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at Bon Harbor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on February 3, 1915, in Daviess County to the late Jesse and Eva Trogden Cooper. She retired from General Electric after 27 years of employment as an inspector. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and dancing but most of all spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Thompson (1992); a son, Jim Thompson; two daughters, Jan King and Elaine Curtis; and a brother Bill Cooper.

She is survived by her children, Shirley Sacra of Fresco, California, Linda Craig of Owensboro, Lena (Billy) Henning of Owensboro, Carolyn Nevitt of Owensboro, and Robert (Brenda) Thompson of Owensboro; 28 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at noon at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.
