Essie Brey Byrne, 84, of Owensboro

 

2doveOWENSBORO, KY - Essie Brey Byrne, 84, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center.

She was on born on July 17, 1927 in Daviess Co., KY to the late John David and Eva Ellen Sadler Brey. Essie was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, quilting, cooking, working on anything and swinging on her patio and watching the birds.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Henry Byrne on August 27, 2005, a son, William Patrick Byrne on January 22, 2005, three brothers, Gene, Leland, and William Brey, and a grandson, Dennis Patrick Byrne.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Delphine) Byrne of Owensboro and Daniel (Sherry) Byrne of Morris, IL, a daughter, Lisa (David) West of Owensboro, a daughter-in-law, Claudia Byrne of Masonville, 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, four brothers, J. D. Brey of Brandywine, MD, Kelly Brey of Utica, Donald Brey of Owensboro, and Rondall Brey of Philpot, four sisters, Ruby Sutton and Nellie Schrecker, both of Owensboro, Margie McLimore of Utica, and Frances Nellis of Evansville, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, December 22, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial following Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
