James Wallace (Wally) Simon, 81, of Owensboro

 

obit2OWENSBORO, KY - James Wallace (Wally) Simon, 81, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County, Kentucky on March 26, 1930 to the late John Melvin and Martha Susan Baker Simon. He worked for Ford Tractor for 30 years and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Amel Simon and Jerome Simon, 7 sisters, Bessie Frances Simon, Dorothy Bernholz, Sister Ann Simon, Virginia Payne, Inez Hornsby, Ruby Cordle, and Mary Ellen Prater.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Clara Marie Ambs Simon, 4 sons, Tony (Jo Ann) Simon of Hodgenville, KY, Russell Simon of Paducah, KY, Paul (Pat) Simon and Ron (Shannon) Simon both of Owensboro, 5 daughters, Diane (Steve) Coomes, Karen Simon, Patricia Simon, Ruth Barr all of Owensboro, and Barbara (Kurt) Mishler of Louisville, KY, 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00am Friday, December 30, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Brad Whistle officiating and inurnment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00pm Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.

There will be no visitation Friday morning.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to ALS Association (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
