Raymond Leo Galloway, 81, of Owensboro

 

OWENSBORO, KY - Raymond Leo Galloway, 81, of Owensboro went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2012.

He was born August 22, 1930 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Robert B and Susan Fulkerson Galloway. He served our country during the Korean War era, was a retired farmer, a member of Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church where he served in many capacities including driving the church bus and visiting the sick. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great friend to many people, always doing for others. Mr. Galloway enjoyed playing cards and doing word search puzzles.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Elmo, Jay, Joe, R. B., and Alfred and sisters; Mary Bell, Augusta Baker, and Georgia Kyle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joann Castlen Galloway, a son John (Sarah) Galloway of Nashville, TN, daughters, Susan (Jason) Stearsman of Utica and Karen (Chris) Volk of Owensboro, 11 grandchildren, Kennah, Dylan, Emilee, Taylor, Kailey, James, Will, Jasey, Briley, Chandler and Hadley, 2 great grandchildren, Bentley and Kinsleigh, a brother, Clarence Galloway of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00am, Monday, January 16, 2012 at St. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with Father Carl McCarthy officiating and burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and from 8:00am to 9:30am Monday at the funeral Home. Prayers said at 6:00pm Sunday.

The family is thankful for the caregivers and staff at Beaver Dam Nursing Home in his final days.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Joseph & Paul, 609 East 4th Street, Owensboro, KY 42303 or Passionist Nuns, 8564 Crisp Road, Whitesville, KY 42378. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
