Shelby Price Ray, 54

 

OWENSBORO, KY - Shelby Price Ray, 54, a resident of the Wendell Foster Center in Owensboro, Kentucky passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health Systems.

He was born on January 11, 1958, in Owensboro to the late Lewis "Marvin" and Maudie Hendricks Ray. He grew up in the Yelvington area and loved going fishing more than anything in the world. Shelby never met a stranger and truly enjoyed the company of others. If you ever wanted to know how much something cost, Shelby would tell you it was $89, no matter what it was. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother George W. Ray on March 31, 2003.

He is survived by a brother, Lewis (Ella) Ray of Louisville; nieces, Shawnté (Brent) Bacher of Chattanooga, TN, Angela Hagan of Owensboro and Shannon Lewis of Louisville; nephews, Barton (Teresa) Ray of Murfreesboro, TN, Jonathon (Deborah) Ray of Smyrna, TN and Dale (Jessie) Lewis of Hardinsburg; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews who he loved dearly.

Services are at 2:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Owensboro, Ky. Visitation is from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Wendell Foster Center, P.O. Box 1668, Owensboro, Ky. 42302-1668.
