Richard LaVern Robson, of Owensboro

 

OWENSBORO, KY - Richard LaVern Robson, of Owensboro went to be with Jesus on January 21, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System after a battle with cancer.

He was born on September 8, 1939, in Hughesville, PA growing up in Williamsport, PA. He was the son of the late Roy and Betty Baker Robson. He served his country in the Marine Corps and the Army. He retired from St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, CA. in 2001 and moved to Owensboro. He loved spending time with his grandsons and watching baseball. He even got addicted to UK basketball.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a nephew, Ronnie Robson, Jr.; his father-in-law, Woodrow England; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Baize.

Surviving are his wife of 44 plus years, Janette England Robson; a daughter Christy Suzanne Robson and a son-in-law Eugene Choi of Somerville, MA; his grandchildren Ian and Malcolm Choi of Somerville, MA; a brother Ron Robson of Florida; mother-in-law Alice Kitten England; sister-in-law Jeanne Baize of Utica; plus many cousins, nieces and nephews including Bobbi (Mark) Kenady, Jeron and Cory Maynard and his little buddy Shawn Riherd.

Memorial services will he held at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Jeff Hendricks officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the church.
