SACRAMENTO, KY - Harry Leroy Thurman 94, formerly of Sacramento, KY finished his earthly walk on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Helmwood Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown and began a walk with his Heavenly Father. Harry Leroy Thurman was born October 20, 1917 in Marion, Kentucky to the late Oscar Lee and Ina Vesta Burton Thurman and was the last surviving sibling of five sons and one daughter. Infant sister, Anna Katherine and younger brothers, Duard, Earl, Denver, and Harold preceded him in death. Leroy was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, a retired mail carrier, and a farmer. He was a member of the Sacramento Lodge # 735 F. & A.M., the Scottish Rite Madisonville Temple, and Worthington Chapel United Methodist Church. The last ten years of his life were spent in Elizabethtown near his son’s family.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Daryl and Vicki Thurman of Elizabethtown; a granddaughter and her husband, Lindsay and Ian Jaggers of Elizabethtown; a great grandson, Holton Jaggers; a step granddaughter and her husband, Tonya and Jeff Johnson of Crestwood; two step great grandchildren, Madison Johnson and Tanner Johnson; 5 nephews; 7 great nieces and great nephews; and 2 great great nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Livermore with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post # 5415. Friends may visit with the Thurman Family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Livermore. Masonic services for Leroy Thurman will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at Musters in Livermore.
